PPMSI

PMO Executive Program · East Africa

Your PMO should be where strategy becomes results.

Most boards receive status. Few receive decisions. PPMSI works with CEOs, permanent secretaries, directors of strategy and PMO heads to make the project office the executive team's most trusted instrument for choosing, funding and delivering the work that matters.

For noting

PMOs rarely fail on method. They fail on mandate.

The research points one way. Where the PMO sits close to the executive agenda, organisations deliver more of what they set out to achieve. Where it is kept at arm's length, it seldom survives.

complex projects fail, about double the 13% failure rate across all projects. Leaders who manage complexity well are about five times more likely to succeed.

PMO performance is decided in the executive suite. What leaders ask of the PMO, how they sponsor it and what they allow it to decide will make it an engine or an overhead.

For discussion

Five shifts that turn a PMO from overhead into advantage

Every engagement is built around the same five shifts. Executives lead them; the PMO delivers them.

Reporting statusFraming decisions

Board packs that open with choices, trade-offs and value at risk, so meetings end with resolutions rather than updates.

Approving projects one by oneSteering a portfolio

One view of capacity, sequencing and return across every initiative, so the organisation funds its best ideas instead of its loudest.

Tracking scope, time and costProving benefits

Named benefit owners, agreed baselines and realisation tracked long after go-live, in the language your board and funders use.

Policing templatesBuilding capability

Project leaders with business acumen, sound judgement and the confidence to escalate early and challenge upward.

Fixed annual plansAdaptive governance

Stage gates and funding cycles that respond to evidence and accommodate agile and hybrid delivery without losing control.

Where does your PMO stand today?

Six statements, about three minutes. Rate each one for your organisation as it is today. Sample answers are loaded so you can see how the result works.

Strategy linkEvery active project traces to a named strategic objective, and the executive team uses that link to decide what to fund or stop.
GovernanceEscalations reach the right decision-maker within days, and stage gates really do stop or reshape weak projects.
ValueWe track the benefits each project delivers after go-live, as well as scope, time and cost.
Executive reportingBoard and executive reports lead with decisions and value at risk, with status colours in the appendix.
PeoplePMO staff and project managers are developed in business acumen and leadership, and have a clear career path.
DataPortfolio data is current, trusted and held in one place, so a board report takes hours to prepare, not days.

Questions executives ask

Before you commit

Who should take part?

CEOs, permanent secretaries, executive directors and board members who sponsor change, together with the PMO head and directors who run it. Results are strongest when a sponsor and the PMO lead take part together.

Do we need an existing PMO?

No. Organisations setting up a PMO use the journey to design it well from the start. Established PMOs use it to reset their mandate and prove their value.

Can the program run inside our organisation?

Yes. Every format can be delivered in-house, in Kampala or at your offices across East Africa, and the diagnostic can include confidential interviews with your executive team.

How does this relate to PMI certification?

PPMSI is a PMI Premier Authorized Training Partner. The curriculum is mapped to the six PMI-PMOCP™ domains and complements the PMP®, PgMP® and PfMP® pathways. Ask us about credential preparation for your team.

What results should we expect?

At the 120-day review we look at decision speed, the share of initiatives linked to strategy, the benefits under active tracking and the work stopped or reshaped. We agree these measures with you at the start, so success is defined before we begin.

For decision

Bring your PMO to the boardroom table
